The theme for this release was “A Gentler Time”. The summary of the theme was:

When we were younger we had a different perception of the world. Many believe that it was a kinder, gentler place than it is today. Let’s take a trip into the past and explore things that we hold dear as being part of our formative years. Things that we believed in before confronting the “real” world.

This whole idea came about as a kind of a push back on last year’s “worldwide storm” concept. Both of them are related. The current social dynamic in many countries seems to be quite strident. With the 2017 release it seemed like it was time to take on that topic directly.

This year, it seems that there is a fatigue with our social environment and all of the issues that are going on. So, in reaction to this current political and social environment, I felt it would be good to take a bit of a holiday and look back on our past.

And the response was good. Twelve artists participated, each offering an interesting take on the things that they hold dear.
